Where are you when I need you?

Was puttering around on the puter this evening. Checking out my videos on you tube. Something about the sound of your own voice is so mesmerizing. Don’t know why, maybe because that’s not the way your voice sounds in your head? Anyway, I heard myself tell people to “Google Me” and they would find me.

google

Got this answer from Wiki: What does it mean to Google someone?

It means to search for somebody or to find information about somebody or someone, usually using the Google search engine.
It simply means to go to www.google.com
and search on something or someone and then it gives you sites you can go to about the subject.
Its usually very helpful.

So I googled bjfromnv, and I was shocked at all the info that popped up. So now I am cruising around thinking, gee I’m a minor celeb. (JOKE) I find myself at Ravelry, and find a message that should have been answered  many days ago! I feel so bad when someone tries to contact me and I don’t get the message. Nothing is more frustrating when you have a question and you need help, and no one answers. I checked the pattern to make sure it had my gmail address, and guess what, it didn’t. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

google 3

So the next thing on my to do list this late evening is go back in and insert that address in the pattern. Little things can make such a difference in life.

I have several critters made, and they are ready to leave for Portland. I tend to get a little attached, but they let me know when it’s time to leave. I need to take some pics. The weather has been so crazy this spring. So much wind and its been cold. It seems to keep snowing back east. And people don’t believe in climate change? Hmmmmm

Well I will take some pics manana of the critters. But for tonite I want to show you my buddy. Pretty handsome huh?

bully

Stella and I were coming back from a walk yesterday, and Mr. Bull who has been separated from his females for almost two weeks now because he didn’t feel like going for a ride in a horse trailer, made it perfectly clear that he was in no mood for Stella and I to walk by him. You could say he is just down right grumpy!!!!…….He doesn’t look very big in this pic, but let me tell you he’s a big boy. But I just wasn’t going to take a chance and get within 2 feet with only a hotwire and tape between us. So we did a minor retreat and jumped an irrigation ditch to give him a little more room, if ya know what I mean. Can’t be too careful!

Q: What do you call a grumpy cow? A: Moo-dy

bully boy

Q: What do you call a sleeping bull? A: A bull-dozer.
Have fun……………:)

pink ape?

just a few lines to check in……………….we have had snow the last two days. But it’s all melted……………….darn. Wanted to go walking yesterday morning, but the snow interfered. So we tried again today.  We waited an extra 30 min. but we still ran into some slippery spots.

All I can say is I am so glad I don’t live in Alaska or Minnesota or Canada. Shall I go on? Spring is just around the corner, I can almost smell it. And this lady is ready and waiting.

Been making a few critters, and since we got some sunshine this afternoon I ran out and took a couple of pics of my pink ape. Not the best or not the worst pictures, but the wind was blowing and it’s still pretty nippy outside. But he’s such a cutie.

PINK

I always feel so much better when I start making toys for the kids. It just makes my day. So this note is going to be brief, just wanted to share pinky with you! Hope you had a super day………..remember, have fun. Getting ready to start another critter…………………..:)

FOR ROSE……….

ROSE2

An 87 Year Old College Student Named Rose

The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned round to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being. She said, "Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?" I laughed and enthusiastically responded, "Of course you may!" and she gave me a giant squeeze. "Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?" I asked. She jokingly replied, "I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids..." "No seriously," I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age. "I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!" she told me.

After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake. We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months, we would leave class together and talk non-stop. I was always mesmerized listening to this "time machine" as she shared her wisdom and experience with me. Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up. At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I'll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor. Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, "I'm sorry I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know." As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, "We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day. You've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die. We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it!There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up. If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight. Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change. Have no regrets. The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets." She concluded her speech by courageously singing "The Rose."

She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives. At the year's end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago. One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep. Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be .When you finish reading this, please send this peaceful word of advice to your friends and family, they'll really enjoy it! These words have been passed along in loving memory of ROSE. REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL. We make a Living by what we get, We make a Life by what we give.

ROSE

The Rose ,

Some say love, it is a river
That drowns the tender reed
Some say love, it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed
Some say love, it is a hunger
An endless aching need
I say love, it is a flower
And you, its only seed
It's the heart, afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance
It's the dream, afraid of waking
That never takes the chance
It's the one who won't be taken
Who cannot seem to give
And the soul, afraid of dying
That never learns to live
When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long
And you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed
That with the sun's love, in the spring
Becomes the rose

Just Doing a little housework?

Gee, I am always shocked when I stop by the blog and see how long it’s been since my last entry. Guess I’m not that dedicated a blogger huh? It seems that I have used it to vent mostly. But I guess that’s okay?

CHI

Well the snow is just about all gone. Stella and I are really happy about that since we sure got tired of walking around in squares! We used the snowblower to make us a trail, and 10 laps took just about an hour. And we walked everyday! Before I have used work out tapes or cd’s, but that wouldn’t do much for Stella. ROFL……………..

She absolutely loved it, she got to chase the burros, which is what she does naturally, she is trying to herd the cows next door. And she loves catching them off guard. Found out today that the neighbor who has the cows, will probably be moving out sometime next year. He has been a good neighbor and I really hate to see him go. Good luck buddy………………..:)

aa

Thought that was pretty darned funny. Woody Allen definitely beats to his own drum.

Raised the prices on my patterns today. I finally finished all the gift needlework, even made myself a sweater. And last nite I finished a critter. It was pretty late when I put his face on, and when I looked at it this morning I can see he needs a makeover. So I will take my own advice and redo the face. Small stitches and take your time.

Still having dog problems, and am resigned to packing the bear spray and when I walk by a certain house, I have it out of it’s holster and ready for action. I will defend my pup…………:)

Happy New Year

So hope you are doing good, and feeling good. LIfe is short, enjoy. Have fun………………..p.s. it’s been 9 years since I quit smoking……

I hate the snow…….okay?

Image7

I was born and raised in California, so snow doesn’t blow my skirt up. I don’t think that is too surprising. I am an avid walker and I don’t own a treadmill and I live in Idaho. Are you starting to get the picture yet? We were really lucky last year, we didn’t get any snow! I was so happy and until a couple of days ago, I was really hoping it was going to be the same thing this year. How could I possibly believe that? ROFL….

Well we got our first snow a couple of days ago………..YUCK! I was out and walked in it and have done so for the last two days…………..but today when I got out there with Stella, I realized that the side road had melted into one big sheet of ice. And since I am trying to get over a knee injury, I am just not willing to take a chance on walking on ice over pavement. No --- way!hate snow 7

So you say, so what? My problem is I have an 8 month old Mini Aussie Shepherd  who needs exercise. That’s my problem, it’s been difficult enough the last few months having to put up with a couple of nit wit neighbors who refuse to install fences or keep their dogs under control. I  had the problem when I was walking by myself, but add Stella to the equation, the problem has intensified.

There is something about walking a dog on a leash, and when a loose dog encounters you, they feel that the dog on the leash is fair game, and they instantly want to go for it. I just spent a couple of minutes checking back on some of my blogs, and was more than surprised so see I haven’t mentioned anything about being attacked and charged by my neighbors dogs.

It’s something I had to contend with when I was in Nevada, and I was not real happy to find the same problem here in Idaho. But the problem is much more severe here in Idaho. I counted the other day, and there is a possibility of being attacked from seven different houses where I walk.

I have had an ongoing problem with one neighbor from the first day we moved up here. He is very cavalier in attitude and in other words does not give a dam. Not until about 2 weeks ago, when I called him on the phone and informed him that the next time his dog or his son’s dogs attacked me, I was going to shoot them. He no longer waves at me, but I was more than a little surprised this morning when I was really hoping to use my new “Bear Pepper Spray” on his again charging/attacking dog, he actually opened his front door and called the dog off! I can’t believe it………………..a first! I’m still in shock!

The thing about being a regular walker, you know all the dogs in the area, and if you are smart, you get to know their names. Believe me it helps sometimes. At the moment I only have major problems with two out of the possible 7. The other loose dogs, have learned to back off and aren’t really that interested in biting me or my dog. But that still leaves me with the afore mentioned neighbor, and another who also has multiple dogs. This other man I have actually reported to the sheriff’s dept., he’s a real piece of work also. Has made it perfectly clear to me that he will let his dogs loose whenever and however he feels like it. That is the mentality I am dealing with. Now you might be asking what kind of dogs? Well they are NOT Chi hua hua’s………….but labs, mixed labs, and an aussie shepherd mix.

Let me state for the record right here: I am not afraid of dogs. Never have been, never will be. But at the same time, I’m not going to allow a dog to attack me or my animal. And you must keep in mind, that these men have never come out during the attacks, they only show up after I have stopped it. Chivalry is dead ladies, sorry to tell you that but it’s true.

image

Now you might remember that I mentioned earlier that I was prepared and almost anxious to spray a dog this morning with bear spray? That is correct. And from what I understand, if you spray an attacking dog with bear spray he won’t be interested in messing with you again.  I have never used bear spray on a dog, but rather than shoot an animal dead, I am willing to take a chance with the bear spray. I bought some when I first moved up to Idaho, but a friend was working for the forestry dept. where there were bears and I thought she needed it more than I did. Well I have changed my mind, and I carry it every time I walk. Dog ownership information for 2011 shows that family dogs comprised 65% (20) of the attacks that resulted in death; 74% (23) of all incidents occurred on the dog owner's property and 29% (9) resulted in criminal charges, up from 15% in 2010.

The Owner is Liable For Your Dog Bite

Dog owners have a responsibility to the general public. Dogs should never have the opportunity to bite innocent people. It does not matter if the dog has a history of aggression. The owner is liable for the dog bite. With recent dog bite cases in the news, the public has a heightened awareness for potentially dangerous situations. Unfortunately, many dog bite cases occur with virtually no warning.

Dog bites are often due to handler or owner negligence. Not properly restraining a dog is a large reason for many dog attacks. Owners of vicious and dangerous dogs may often try to blame the victim. The idea of placing blame on the victim for somehow provoking the dog is unacceptable. Provoked or not, dog owners must restrain their dogs for public safety.

Extreme caution should be exercised around breeds particularly well known for violence. Pit Bulls are known for the extensive amount of tissue damage they can inflict on victims. Certain circumstances can be more dangerous than others. Dogs on chains are often deemed more dangerous than others. Walkers should take care never to approach loose dogs

Dog bites often occur when a dog is on the loose. Many dogs have been known to escape their yards or enclosures to attack their victims. Many attacks occur when dogs begin fighting. It is not uncommon for a menacing dog to attack a responsible dog owner’s leashed pet. This can become fatal for the pet that is attacked. This also puts pet owners in a dangerous situation. Many responsible pet owners have been grievously injured while trying to save their own pet during an attack.

This is no joke, so if you or anyone you know is going through the same problems, tell them not to hesitate to contact the authorities. Although it may or may not do any good. I think you should take the full situation into consideration and act accordingly. I have wanted to write an article in the paper, but I don’t think it will do any good. And I will be deemed a crazy old lady. Well maybe I am, I guess most old ladies would retreat to the safety of their home. But I have a God given right to walk outside, and I’m not going to give it up!

p.s. and until the snow melts or we get a new pack of fresh snow, me and Stella will be seen making laps on our 2 acres. Yee Haw! Have fun! I knew there was a good reason why we have spent the last 5 years cleaning up this property!!! :) BE CAREFUL…………..HAVE FUN!

Dec. 21, 2012…We are still here!

Well, as another year draws to a close. It conjures up many memories of the last few months. Not the best year for me, but knowing what others have had to endure this year, I have absolutely nothing to complain about. I am a very lucky person!

This has been a year full of major events! I am not going to recap them all here. But the presidential election here in the US, and the earthquake in Japan are the two biggies for me. This last earthquake on Dec. 7, 2012 was not nearly as big as the one on April 7, 2011. But it reminded me of how small we humans are compared to the awesome power of Mother Nature.

There are some things controlled by people, and some things that people can never control. As I have grown older it all seems to have  become so perfectly clear. We humans always knew we could not control mother nature, but with the effects of global warming, who would have thought that humans might bring about our own destruction? Just too ironic in so many ways.

I have always enjoyed all modern technology, I might not have embraced it as vigorously as some. I do have a cell phone, but I do not carry it with me unless I am going on a trip. It does not have all the bells and whistles, and it does not control my life in any way.

Cell Phone Etiquette, Woman on Cell Phone in Movie Theater

text

I think you can see from these photos, that people really need to learn how to turn off their phones, and spend a little time in the real world. They need to look up, look around take a deep breath of fresh air, and thank the creator for another beautiful day.

Of course I am in my sixties, so for example my youngest grandson knows nothing else, and without help he will think this is the norm. Children don’t go outside and play anymore. Scary shit. Sorry for the language, but sometimes it’s necessary. And I haven’t even mentioned driving and texting or talking while on a cell phone!

ORLANDO, FL, April 12, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- According to a study released by the National Safety Council in January 2010, a staggering 28% of all car accidents in the United States are caused by drivers using cell phones. The vast majority of those crashes, 1.4 million annually, are caused by cell phone conversations, and 200,000 are blamed on text messaging, according to the report from the council, a nonprofit group recognized by congressional charter as a leader on safety in the United States.

Don’t get me wrong. I am NOT putting down cell phones! But there is a time and a place, and it’s not while you are driving! I think they have become miniature Computers and they truly are awesome. But at the same time, it’s very easy to see that millions, yes I said millions of people in this day and age are totally addicted to their cell phone. They have more of a relationship with the phone, than they do with a person standing, setting, or walking beside them.

August 02, 2012: Eva Mendes is spotted walking her beau Ryan Gosling's dog George for a walk before heading to the hair salon in West Hollywood, CA.

Get outside……………….take a walk! Better yet, take your dog for a walk…………………………………………….

In any of these photos do you a cell phone? My message is simple and I keep hoping that eventually people will begin to realize that their world does not exist here:

There is a big beautiful world out there, and you need to spend some time in it. Mother Earth is in trouble and she needs your help! You see my generation played outside all day, and we still had trouble getting home before dark. Can you believe that? It’s true. You are a human being, you came from mother earth, and you need to spend some time with her. Because your visit here is very brief, and if you miss out…………………………….????

Have fun peeps. Life is short, get out their and enjoy! Happy Holidays to you and yours…………with love always……………….bj aka beeg p.s. the pup I took over to my neighbors? They kept her, and her name is Penny!

DID YOU LOSE SOMETHING?

I meant to log on yesterday and relate what happened when I took Stella for a walk yesterday morning. But since I didn’t I am going to make it quick and to the point. As we were walking I looked over and saw a young puppy curled up on the side of the ditch amongst some bushes. It was alive, but since it was so close to the road, I thought maybe it was injured. It did not move when I stopped to look at it.

I realized that the house just before this field  did have a puppy, so I was thinking maybe this was their dog? No one was outside at this house, but the house on the other side of the road had someone cutting wood. So I yelled a country “Hey” at him and with out looking in my direction he replied, “what?”…………….I said over here…………trying to get him to look across the road and up from his property to see me and my dog standing there.

Long story short………….the puppy was not injured…………the neighbor with the puppy and the other cutting wood both joined me on the road, and I was informed that someone had dumped the dog off the nite before and that they had tried to catch it, but it had escaped into the alfalfa field. Can you believe that? This dog does not weigh 3 pounds, and we have all kinds of wildlife up here in Idaho. What a sick bastard……………..excuse my language. What the hell is wrong with people these days?

CHI

Well the next problem was trying to figure out if the dog was injured and try to catch it. Stella my dog, kept barking and was not making things any easier. So after surrounding the critter, the puppy decided after a little growling and snapping in fear, that Stella looked the most friendly and came running up to her, which amazed us all.

This pup was indeed a female, very thin, and the sweetest little thing you ever did see. Once the wood cutter picked her up, she melted into his arms shivering with cold and excitement since it was about 10 am at this time and she had spent the entire nite out on her own. The next problem was, what to do with her. In our county, owners who want to get rid of their dogs dump them out of town. That way if you try to call the pound and get help they will tell you if the dog was found out of town they can’t help you. And of course this was Sunday, so nothing was open. :(

chi2

So I convinced the neighbor with the puppy and the fenced in yard to keep the dog for that day, and that I would be there in the morning to take her to the pound. Even if I had to lie and tell  them I had found her in town, which I was prepared to do. I could not sleep last nite, I kept thinking about that little pup, and what was going to happen to her?

Anyway, at about 5 minutes after 9 I arrived and didn’t see her in the yard. I came with a leash and I had blankets and towels in my car. I got out of the car and she came running to me from somewhere under the car port. She practically jumped into my arms. I had not held her the day before, so I was shocked to see how really small and light she was. And of course she had spent another nite outside and she was cold and shivering. So I knew I had a decision to make, I had racked my brain all nite as to what I could do. We are in no position to take on another animal. And since I don’t know that many people here, I just could not think of anyone who would want a small house dog. But I did think of one neighbor who has two older poodles and are very good to their animals. So I headed in the opposite direction of town in the hopes that maybe I might be able to save this little bundle.  As of this note, I am happy to say I left her with this loving couple who had recently had to put one of their poodles down. They will either find her a home, or they will keep her. She was quickly accepted by the older poodle who I am sure is missing his partner. So people, sometimes fate, karma, or the Man upstairs will step into your life. So please try to do the best you can…………..have fun :)
