Merry Xmas to us all!

Good news from heaven the angels bring,
Glad tidings to the earth they sing:
To us this day a child is given,
To crown us with the joy of heaven.

Martin Luther

I took this shot a couple of days ago as the sun was coming up. Life is short and time flies. I hope you and yours are having a happy, healthy holiday season!

On the knitting front I am working on a model that I should have ready to go Monday. I need to take some pics, so hopefully the sun will come out and co-operate. I haven’t tried taking pics of my critters in the snow. Any ideas?

Did take a couple of pics of this sweet little sweater for little “Skylar.”

This is a free pattern! And its so well written and you can see how beautiful it came out. It’s called “Helena” designed by Alison Green Will. I will add the link to the pattern. Click on the picture for it.

Well, the next thing we know it will be New Years. I want to thank all of you for your support and friendship. I wish you all a happy, prosperous new year!

A Christmas candle is a lovely thing;
It makes no noise at all,
But softly gives itself away;
While quite unselfish, it grows small.

White Xmas? are you ready?

Just dropping by, been a lazy winter day, just wasted 4 hours to lose at a poker tournament. But I’m not complaining, the game you love to hate. So its just about time to start clicking some needles. Got the outside xmas tree lit up and its so beautiful.more blue

I let my dog out earlier and he was having a ball chasing a squirrel, too funny. They are so easy to see in the snow, and they don’t mind the cold a bit! You watch them run up a tree and down a tree and up the same tree and you realize why you could describe someone as “Squirrely” Lots of birds out today also, think I need to get my walking cd out tonite and walk a couple of miles in the living room, if you know what I mean?

blue winter

I hope we get some sunshine tomorrow. We got just a little bit today, and I find myself missing it. I guess it all boils down to where you are from and what you are accustomed to. Right? Found another beautiful picture to share with you. How are those projects coming along, any one getting nervous yet?  Working on sweater still, have divided for sleeves and getting ready to start lace. Wish me luck……………Have fun……..talk to ya later!

p.s. my critters arrived safely and have all been adopted! :)

What’s going on?

Monday morning, still up from yesterday. I got the afghan done! I should measure it, because I did make it a little over size. An afghan built for two, if you know what I mean! Glad its done, and even more glad that’s the only afghan planned for this xmas season.

So now I’ve got another sweater on my needles, adult sized this time. I am feeling more encouraged, as I was feeling like I was getting bogged down, and I have several more things to make. But now that the biggest most time consuming is done, I am really relieved. I even clocked myself, going full speed with utmost attention, it took 15 min to do one row. So 4 rows is an hour, haven’t had the heart to count the rows yet! Anyway………….

Got the first part of the xmas cards done this morning, and ta da! We shipped off a big box of critters this morning! I wanted them to get there enough before xmas so that they would get right to the children. I did take a picture of them setting on the couch.DSCF3020

That’s a nice little assortment, and I hope they can bring some comfort and happiness to a child. That’s what its all about and that’s what started this whole thing. We all are children at heart, we just don’t like to admit it. So I hope you have good day, don’t stress out. Have fun.

Is it Xmas yet?

Well how the heck have ya been? Keeping busy? Let me ask you a question. Do you need any snow? Don’t be afraid to ask, because we’ve got plenty to go around. So If you need a little or you need a lot, just drop me a note, and I’ll send it on its way. I promise.

This picture was taken day before yesterday, and we have gotten much more snow since then. It’s not even officially winter yet, and I think I am suffering from cabin fever. Got the biggest case of the blah’s you ever did see. I am hoping to finish the afghan tonite.

There is so much moisture in the air it was foggy all day today! And it didn’t even get this bright. I have recently joined facebook, so I have spent many a wasted hour mooching around on that site. I have to admit it’s been very interesting. Not productive, but very interesting.  Well I hope you are safe and happy, and that you get that shopping done or in some cases get busy on that needle work gals! We are running out of time. Have fun

Are you blissful?

Got a lot done last night and today. And I am very proud to introduce “Billy Bliss Bunny Rabbit” my latest pattern.frontpage

I love making the sleepy animals, and I love to picture them comforting a sick child. And they are totally safe for all ages of children. Gosh I really hate to admit it, but I do get attached to my critters. But its not long and they let me know their getting bored and want to get adopted. LOL

So how was your Thanksgiving? I hope you had a wonderful day with your family. And if not with your family, I just hope you had a great day. Well since its “Black Friday” I just had to do a little online shopping. They have some great sales going on for yarn. Red Heart is really marked down. Joann’s web site actually went down for about 30 minutes due to the heavy traffic. While I was waiting for them to come back on, I checked a few other web sites, but the sale prices Joann’s is offering beat them all.So if you need some yarn……….lol.

Tried to take some outside pictures this afternoon, and it’s still brrrrrrrrrr cold out there. Kind of a dark and dreary sort of day. The fire in the wood stove feels real good, if you know what I mean. I was hoping the sun would come out, but I didn’t get any cooperation. Anyway, I hope your having fun. Later.

Did you get your flu shot? hmmm?

Going to drop in again to see what’s happening. Still blustery cold outside. Found my down jacket and put that puppy on and had a nice warm walk. It’s really amazing how cold it can turn in just a few days. Been waiting for my bud to go walking with me, but I just heard she’s got the flu! And she doesn’t get flu shots either? Well I hope she’s feeling better real soon. We got the flu shot last month, we just have gotten to the point where it’s a must do every year. My Mom is in her 80’s and I don’t want her getting the flu. She got the flu a couple of years ago from a little boy with a bad cough who came in her rock shop. She was so sick I thought I was going to have to take her to the emergency room. So if your getting a little long in the tooth, get the flu shot, please………..funny

Well no yarn today, so I guess I won’t get it til Friday. I really can’t remember the last time I had to put something down to wait for more yarn. Started a new pattern last nite and its coming along nicely. Still trying to decide what color to use for a baby girl’s sweater. I love bright colors myself, and I have to watch out that I don’t pick something too bold.

Just had a nice visit with an old dear friend that I used to work with in Ca. Ah those were the days my friends! Gosh did we have a blast. And like she said, we wouldn’t change a thing. It truly was a different world out there. Later.

It feels like winter………..

Good day to ya! Well we’ve had some snow, and wind. And when I went for a walk today, I just about froze my butt off. Brrrrrrrrrr got some wind chill factor going on. I could have used a ski mask when I started off. I even had on my long johns, thank goodness I did.

Just a couple of more days til Thanksgiving. Seems like its showed up quick this year. Haven’t heard the man mention anything about what he’s cooking, probably will be the usual fare. Trying not to get to enthused since I am still trying to unload some unwanted baggage. If you know what I mean? Anyway………….

On the knitting front, I am 3/4 finished with the afghan. Only got one problem, I have run out of one of my colors! I went to Joann’s last week but they didn’t have the brown color I needed. So I came back home and ordered it. That was last week so hopefully it will show up tomorrow or the next day. DSCF2949

So in the meantime, I need to start another pattern and I have a baby sweater I want to make. I have a lot more things to make but this is the way I have it lined up. I have held off shipping the critters and plan on shipping them the first part of December. So other than that, everything is going along splendidly. Keeping warm and happy and healthy. Hope this finds you the same!

What happened?

Well I can’t believe I haven’t blogged in so many days! I guess I have been going around in circles in more ways than one. Most frustrating feeling to start a project, frog project, restart project, improvise, improvise some more, and you know what you end up with? Nada, nada gosh darn thing.DSCF2937 I have just about worn that yarn out. LOL, I think its jinxed or something. I mean………..how long have I been trying to make this sweater? Ridiculous, I have wasted so much time its unbelievable. I gave up officially last nite about 3am, frogged that puppy. So now the yarn is back in the same bag that I brought it home in.

I need to make an afghan, a sweater, maybe two sweaters, hats, and gloves, before xmas. I haven’t gotten anything accomplished in over a week! So now the dilemma is which project do I start first. I am trying not to get down on myself, the one thing I have noticed is that a lot of us knitters/crocheters seem to have a lot of trouble making things for ourselves. So in that fact I’m not unusual. I think I will start the afghan, it will obviously take the most time, but at the same time I don’t have to worry about gauge or whether its going to fit right. What a pain in the butt! Oh well, if everything went perfectly all the time, you wouldn’t have anything to compare it to. Right?

In the meantime, I have been walking everyday and still using the hand weights on a regular basis. Noticed the wind seemed to blowing when I got up, didn’t think much of it until I got out there.DSCF2938 The wind almost took the back gate out of my hands it was blowing so hard. Made me think of Nevada wind, so I would guess that wind was at least 60mph easily. When it was on my back, it almost took me off my feet a couple of times. In fact I had to go back in and put on my hooded sweatshirt, so I could use the hood to keep my hat on. Won’t tell you how many times I had to blow my nose!!!!! Well I hope all is well with you and yours. We be good. Have fun.

Happy Vets Day to you!

Lots of frost out there this morning. Out sweeping leaves off the board sidewalk, with the frost they sure like to stick. And frost and boards means slippery. Don’t have a whole lot planned for the day. Got laundry going, the man is at the dentist. Yuk! Hope all goes well. Nuff said on that subject.

On the knitting front, Image2I finished both sleeves last night and picked up for the collar and have the short rowing done. So I am on the homestretch. I did garter stitch on the bottom of the body and again did the I-cord bind off on the sleeves, being a little more careful when sewing the ends together. I guess I’m looking for invisibility there and I’m not going to get it. I have not finished tucking in the ends on the sleeves, so I have left the possibility open for change.

Today I want to tell you about a group called Beadforlife. I was listening to the radio on a station out of Las Vegas last week, and they had some guests on the show and they were talking about this organization. This is the first time I had heard of it, so when they gave the internet address, I checked it out. First of all its an awesome site. Image1So much information and very well laid out. And it amazed me how making these beautiful beads can totally change an entire families life. The bracelet is mine. I paid $5 for it, and it makes me feel good knowing that I might have helped some one so far away in Uganda. If you get a chance please stop by this web site and check it out. These beautiful beads are made from paper! On the web site they have videos showing the women making the beads, and so much more information. Well I hope you have a nice day, my arms are telling me about packing those walking weights. Going to wait until it warms up a little more and a walking with weights we will go. Have fun.

What did you frog today? hmmm??

Well I did it, you know it never fails to amaze me how fast you can rip something back, compared to the time it took to crochet or knit it. I did in fact own a couple of knitting machines at one time. I taught myself how to use them, and they were a lot of fun. I will say that if you did happen to make a mistake, and sometimes the machine would make a mistake it could take up to an hour to get it corrected. So knitting machines can be very time consuming also. I don’t think people really appreciate the time and expertise it takes to make something on a knitting machine. I enjoyed using them, but I guess the truth of the matter is, I enjoy the feel of the yarn and working it with my hands. So anyway here’s a picture of the almost finished “Iced” sweater.DSCF2940

I did try it on one more time to make sure that it wasn’t going to work. I really love this pattern, and if its flattering for me it will look good on just about anyone. I also want to say that this yarn is very soft and I enjoy working with it.DSCF2941

So I have started again making it one size larger and have already gotten to the point of dividing for the sleeves, this is a fast knit, so with any luck I should be done in a couple of days. Just got back from walking, it was nice and crispy out there. They are cutting the corn. I love to watch the huge machinery at work. They sure have come a long way. Well you have a super day.

Poppin in…………

Just a couple of lines to let you know what I’ve been up to. Finished the sweater, it really came out nice. But alas, the style does absolutely nothing for this short gal. So it is staying in tact, and will become a xmas present. So just in case I am not going to take a pic of it.

Took some  pics the other day when I was out walking, fall colors are so pretty. Good thing I did, because since these pics were taken we’ve had wind and rain, and you know what happens to the leaves when that happens. This picture was taken last week so everything was still dry.

When I walked today, I had to stay on the road, because it was so muddy. And to change things up, I took some walking weights 5 pounds each hand. Only walked 45 minutes, but I think my arms might tell me about it in a couple of days.

So now on the knitting front, I am determined to make myself a sweater before I start the rest of the xmas presents. I also need to do some updating on a couple of my patterns.  So  in the meantime, I am now working on a pattern called “Iced by Carol Feller”

It’s a free pattern, and its worked from the top down. I am at the collar at this time. I used 10 1/2 size needles and I am using Lion Brand Wool ease chunky. I got 7  skeins, and making the size 42 looks like I will have left over. Only one problem, they talk about positive and negative ease. And with this size, I don’t have much positive ease. So I am seriously considering frogging and going up a size. I used and I-cord bind off on the sleeves, and I am not real happy with the seam.DSCF2934

Saw a reverse stockinet stitch which I think would look good. Don’t like the idea of a garter hem. So when I get finished here I think I have made up my mind to redo. I also saw a suggestion that after picking up the stitches for the collar to do the first row knitting through the back loops, which will tighten that first row up.  Also pick up extra stitches under arm to prevent holes, you can decrease them the second row. I will try the “go to stretchy” bind off - K1, K1, transfer both stitches to the left needle and knit both through the back of the loops, repeat from until you are done binding off.I think this is really a good idea. And when you want to make the button loops, you can  mark where you want your buttons to go and when you get to those points, use a crochet hook and chain  the number of stitches needed to make a loop for the  button and then continue on with the bind off. So I think that’s it. Hope your doing good, are you starting to think xmas yet? You better, its gonna creep up on you. So a froggin I will go, I’ll even take a picture such a shame, so close to being finished! :(

Magic Monday……….& row counters

Hi! How are ya? Have a good day? I hope so, cos I did. I never fail to enjoy the fact that I don’t have to get up and go to work. And its interesting how they are always saying that we all have our own inner clock. Well I have always believed that. Here in Idaho we are on Mountain Time, so that means that its an hour earlier in Nevada and California. We’ve been up here going on four years now, but my inner clock will always be the same. So at 8am bright and early? I wake up every day. Not early I know, but I don’t go to bed early either!

So got some house work done today, but I needed to go to Joann’s since I need one more skein to finish the sweater I’m working on. I have decided to make it longer than called for. But I was down to 2 skeins and still needed to make the sleeves, so I figured I would make both sleeves, and what was left over I would just add onto the bottom of the sweater. Well da, one sleeve took almost a skein. And of course I wanted to change the cuff, I’m just not crazy about a picot edge. Don’t know why, but for this sweater………naw. So, I was racking my brain with all sorts of ideas, because I am not starting at the cuff, I am coming down to the cuff. I did do some decreasing, and tried to do a reverse lace pattern, but that didn’t work. So I made the lace and used Kitchener to graft it. Thought about a 3needle bind off, probably would have worked just as well. Maybe on the next sweater. So now that I know how much yarn I need for a sleeve, I couldn’t proceed with out more yarn.

So I get into Joann’s, the yarn I used for this sweater is Vanna’s and it just happens to be on sale, 2 for $5 and I’m looking all over and I don’t see the shade of grey that I need.

Talk about a nail biting moment, I finally snagged an employee and bless her heart she took me over where they had more. Phew!  I always try to not over buy when purchasing for a sweater, but I could just see this sweater setting and waiting to be finished. And since my retirement I really try not to let things set around unfinished. Because that’s usually the way they end up.

Last year, I really put the hours in for Xmas, I decided that I wanted to make an afghan for each of my eight grand-children. Well I don’t have to do that this year, so I think I will do smaller things. We also have a wee one, that I want to make some stuff for. Little Skylar, she is so cute. Too bad she’s not closer.  So I found all the yarn I need hopefully to get everything made. Last year was a little stressful. But I’m getting an early start this year, so I don’t think I will have any problems?

And one last note, if your wondering what are these beautiful pieces of jewelry? They are Row Counters! Are they too beautiful or what? I had ordered one of these row counter bracelets for myself. And when I got the package today  I opened it, looked at the invoice and was a little surprised to see that my name was not on the invoice? And the listed items were not what I had ordered.

So when I opened  the rest of the package and found someone else's order. Reminds me of the whole laptop saga. So I contacted the seller, and I will forward it  to the correct buyer. So we got that all taken care of. Anyway it also reminded me of the cop telling me that if a package is delivered to you that you can just keep it? Even if its not yours? Ridiculous!

So while I’m trying to contact the seller, I started looking at the bracelets again. I don’t want to even tell you how much time I spent window shopping, trying to decide which one I wanted the first time.  Do yourself a favor if you’re a knitter do not go to ETSY and type in row counters for knitters. LOL! They have some of the most beautiful original things out there. I mean they are functional and just so neat! And they would make a great Xmas present if you need to buy a gift for a knitter.  HINT HINT!  Have fun………….later :)

Skyler Scarecrow has landed!

Got the test knit done last night. And I think they really came out cute!

I don’t think they are scary looking at all! And guess what? His hat is attached, it doesn’t come off.  Sending the toys to the children's’ hospital has always been a concern. I don’t want the children to be frightened by the toys. I think when they are sick they are more sensitive. I remember being home sick in bed  with Pneumonia, I was about 9 or ten and my Mom just had to come in my room and vacuum? It was a hoover vacuum and was very noisy. I never forgot that, and all that noise really made me feel awful! Funny how you never forget things like that.sky2

Haven’t gotten much done so far today, other than getting all the business ends of this pattern taken care of. My husband mentioned that it’s too bad that I didn’t get my inspiration about a month sooner? Its true, but you can’t help when lightening will strike. Right?sideshot

Well I hope you are having one terrific Friday afternoon. I hope you have had a great week, and I hope you are enjoying yourself. Happiness is a state of mind, make it yours. Talk to you later.

What time is it?

How you doing? Been busy the last couple of days. Almost nine in the evening and still haven’t had my dinner. Just one of those days. Finished writing my latest pattern. Going to start the test knit tomorrow, so it should be showing up pretty darn soon. Still working on the sweater. Gee I hope its not going to be too big. Hmmm wouldn’t be the first time that has happened.dogtreats

Anyway just wanted to drop in and say hello. All is well at this end of the earth. Hope this finds you the same. Life can be fun………hope you are enjoying yours. Manana………….

It’s raining in Idaho!

Good Saturday afternoon to you. How you doing? Yes, we got a nice drizzle of rain coming down. Out the door early to go down and wrap some boxes that will get filled with some goodies for children. Met some new people and had a nice time. Any thing you do for needy children is always time well spent.

I am working on another pattern, but while that’s going on I wanted to try this pattern out. It’s called the Looking Glass Sweater and it is written by Kathryn Ashley-Wright. Its an interesting pattern and I like being able to throw some color in to the works. I also liked the shorter sleeves for wearing inside and knitting, if I have on a long sleeved sweater, I find myself trying to pull the sleeves up and get them away from the yarn.  I haven’t taken any pictures yet. I’m making mine in a dark gray, and using a Caron variegated yarn that has some really pretty bright jewel colors, in fact it’s the same variegated yarn I used for one of my ducks. I have already changed a few things, like casting on and including the button bands. As you know I don’t like to sew anything on, and its not been that much trouble to keep track of everything. I only made two buttonholes, I think I will keep the sleeves the same, but I’m not so sure about the picot edges might change that. But so far I’m liking how its coming along. I have divided for the sleeves and am coming down the body. We will see.

Had a rather interesting experience. I shipped  my used laptop off to Nevada, and since it weighed over 14 pounds, I did send it snail mail. It didn’t cost as much as I thought it would. I didn’t get delivery confirmation or insurance, but I did keep the receipt. So several days later, I noticed a postal receipt laying on the kitchen table, I picked it up and noticed that it had been sent to a town I used to live in in California?ra2 So I’m kind of scratching my head thinking I wonder what this is, and who sent something to this town? It was then that I noticed the date and the amount and realized I had sent the laptop to the wrong zip code! Everything was correct, except I had put the wrong zip code. So I got on the phone and talked to our local post office and they told me that they strictly go by the zip code so that it will get there and just end up coming back to me. I shipped the package the 7th of this month, so I called the recipient and told them what I had done, and if by any chance they got the package to be sure and let me know.

So last Thursday I decided maybe I should call the post office in Ca. and see if they have any recollection or see if they had any info. The man I talked to said the woman who had that p.o. box did in fact receive a lot of packages. He took my name and phone number and said he was going to call that lady. Well I never heard anything back from him. raSo then I decided to call the police dept. down there and ask them if this lady had kept the laptop if there was anything I could do about it. And the officer informed me that if a package is delivered to the wrong address and they decide to keep it there is NOTHING they can do about it? I guess you learn something new everyday. I had many thoughts going through my head at this point. And I couldn’t help but keep thinking that I had started this entire fiasco. Can’t remember names, but I can remember a zip code from over 20 years ago???? So I did call the post office back in Ca. and this time I talked to a woman who told me that the name DOES have to match up with the box, so I became more hopeful at this point, but she did tell me that they could not change the zip, that it would in fact be sent back to me and that I would have to pay for shipping again. So I felt I had gone as far as I could, and decided that the Postal Gods would have to take over from here, because I had done all I could.

So about 7pm last nite, I checked my email and guess what? The Postal Gods  had taken pity on this nerd,  the package had been sent  to Nevada and delivered!  PEACE!

Hi dee do!

Well, how goes it? Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. I guess if I wanted to get more done in a day, I would need to quit playing poker. poker But guess what? That’s not gonna happen. It’s the game you love to hate. You fellow poker players know what I’m talking about. It’s such a great game, and of course I’m into Texas hold-em. That’s where I play, you will meet some of the nicest people on Full Tilt Poker. You don’t have to play real money, play tokens, I guarantee you will have just as much fun. But if you get hooked on playing, I don’t want to hear about it. Believe me I know how much fun it is, so give it a try.

On the knitting front, I did finish the wabbit. She came out pretty cute.fall I used my wabbit pattern, I just didn’t use the furry yarn, but the yarn I used has a nice fuzzy texture to it. The colors look and remind me of Easter, not that time of year that’s for sure. But this is fall, and the leaves are turning. I ordered a new welcome banner, I went to Joann’s twice and all they had were the small garden ones. So I got this one and another Xmas one. I think he’s really cute. And of course any thing colorful is right up my alley. We have starting burning wood, so it’s getting to be that time of year. They just called and the machine we need to blow the insulation in to the back room will be available tomorrow. So that’s good that we will be able to get that done. Anything to save energy and keep warm at the same time, right?

Well lets see I wanted to show you a  picture of the wabbit also. I got a yarn scale, so I can be very exact about the amount of yarn it takes to complete a project.   It will be interesting to see if there are more people knitting in the winter. Of course some of us do needle work all year round. I’ve even been thinking about a sweater, or some socks? Actually this is the time of year you need to figure out what your going to make for everybody, get your yarn and get started. Because before you know it you will be staying up way too late trying to finish that last present. Now you can’t say I didn’t give you a reminder early enough. Right?  Hmmmm, must be the winter thing. Cozy up in your comfortable chair, watch TV and work away. Just sooooo much fun! So this is Wanda Wabbit II.wandaIILike I said, I didn’t use a furry yarn, I used a second yarn for the bottom of her feet.  You can’t see her tail with this shot, but I will post her on Ravelry, so you will see her profile.  I just loved working with this yarn. Very nice, its Sensations by Joann’s. Very soft, I’ve used it before and its really nice to work with, I think it would make a really pretty sweater for a child or adult, what do you think? I know you could make a toy, and a sweater to match! How cute would that be? Giving myself ideas…….. Well I hope you’ve had a really nice day. Love is the answer………………:)

Two more how to videos added to my blog!

Well I finally got two more videos made and uploaded today. The first is about increasing, using M1 working in the round on double pointed needles. The second is about W&T or short rows. I  also have them posted in the tut, link, & info page. Here is the link for my Playlist  with all four videos called “Knitting in Circles” on YouTube

How to Knit:" M1" increase knit in the round on dp needles

How to Knit: W&T or short rows on double pointed needles

It’s my hope that these videos will help answer any  questions, or help alleviate any problems someone is having knitting in the round.  My patterns are intended to be knit using double pointed needles. Knitting in the round with double pointed needles, is not quite the same as with working with circular needles. If the word seamless is associated with a pattern, you can bet I’ll be interested. Most everything I make I try to make it seamless, so I convert most patterns that I knit. I guess it must be pretty obvious by now that I’m not crazy about seaming. I really love making  toys, and I feel that they are sturdier because  their appendages are not sewn on but picked up and knit. So on the knitting front:
I’ll unravel that head and prepare it for a demo of “Intarsia” knitting in the round. I will again use the big needles and lighter yarn in the hopes that this will make the stitches easier to see. So with any luck I should have that done tomorrow. Still one of my favorite words, Manana! Still working on my wabbit, coming out cute………you know the drill………..have fun :)with a song in our heart!                                     With a song in my heart!

What did you do today? huh?

Well the insulating didn’t get done. The machine we need to do it, was still out when we tried to pick it up this morning. So we are on the list, whatever that means. Kind of like on call? Oh well it will get done. Had postponed the walk to a later hour, thinking we would get the insulating done first. dogsleep So a little before 10 I headed out the door, had a little 3 year old along for the ride, what a sweet child. Happy, pleasant and not one whine came out of that beautiful little boy. Such a pleasure to be around, we really had a lot of fun. Sometimes when your around small children like that you remember its the little things that count.

Found out yesterday, that a very dear friend of ours had open heart surgery, he is doing well but he is still in the ICU. As with any surgery, it will take a while for him to recover. As a result of this there will be changes made to help accommodate his convalescence. butterfly That’s the thing about life that we tend to forget sometimes, that nothing ever stays the same. Change is around us constantly. We try to act like nothing is happening but deep inside we know, so when we are pulled up short by alarming news, the reality of life sets in once again. That’s why its so important to get all your ducks in a row, do the very best you can, and have fun. Now, not later, you might not have later. Oh, you can diet and exercise and do all the right things, but “what will be, will be.”

If you ever get a chance to listen to this song, check it out. It’s one of my favorites:

I remember when, I remember
I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that place
Even your emotions have an echo in so much space
And when you're out there without care
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much
Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
And I hope that you are
Having the time of your life
But think twice
That's my only advice
Come on now, who do you
Who do you, who do you, who do you think you are?
Ha ha ha, bless your soul
You really think you're in control?
Well, I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Just like me
My heroes had the heart
To lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember
Is thinking, I want to be like them
Ever since I was little
Ever since I was little
It looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done
But maybe I'm crazy
Maybe you're crazy
Maybe we're crazy

P.S. got a wabbit on my needles and a song in my heart. I’m having fun now! :)

Too much Poker, not enough time?

Well I didn’t get the videos done. Hmm well what’s my excuse? Aw shucks guess I don’t have one.lazy Got involved in a poker tournament that took most of the afternoon. So my ambition kind of went out the window. Needed to do an errand early this morning, so there went the morning. Had another tournament this afternoon, and I haven’t got nuttin done. Nothing on my needles. I did stop by the local yarn store, and of course I came home with some lovely variegated yarn, I have used this type before, but I have been eyeballing this color for a long time. I like the look of dark to light and vice versa. But I need to make another bunny, I got so busy with the patterns that all of a sudden seemed like there were just too many things to do.

Tomorrow we need to do some insulating and I don’t know how long that’s gonna take. With winter coming on, its time to start batting down, its not that warm to day. Got lots of sunshine going on outside, no wind. lazy2 So I think I will go take a little late afternoon stroll. Been still packing my pepper spray, trying to keep the neighbors dog from coming along with me. Since she is a cat killer and a chicken killer, I really don’t like having her, because if something happens, I’m going to feel responsible. She likes to meander down the road and when cars come by they always look at me like, do something with the dog? She’s not my dog!!!

So I think I’ve got a little case of the blah’s, so some fresh air should take care of that. That reminds me my ear jacks for my mp3 player are shot. In the left ear nothing but static on the bass. Knew I was forgetting something lazy3 when I was in BiMart. Oh well, always something. So, I think I will get out side and see what’s going on. Might be 60 degrees out there, so it might be a little nippy for a few minutes. I hope your having a good day, and remember, if you don’t have any thing good to say, don’t say anything at all! Later……………..p.s. and when I get back me and that couch are going to get acquainted!

I’m a Country Duck

Well we had our first sign of frost this am. Result: tomato plants have disappeared, strange how that happens every year.rescued  A garden spider got disturbed in the process, but just to show what a nice guy I’m married to he moved it over to the the zucchini plants. I guess in the process his own web got wrapped around his back, so he actually had to be rescued twice! But he did just fine. How kewl is that?

Had some variegated yarn, I’ve had in my stash for soooo long. When I think about it, I must have had that yarn for 20 years! It’s Red Heart nothing that special, but it just has so many of the colors that I love. Funny how you can just have a dab of yarn, and you hang on to it like that. bj crochet bears So in my foraging, I have been coming across it. I save all my little balls of yarn, and when I get enough of them I make an afghan using the neatest pattern. Let me look and see if I can find the link. I found it:  The Mindless Knitting, TV Watching, Scrap User-Upper Afghan! It really is the neatest pattern, perfect for all those odd ball bits of yarn you end up with. And the way you put the colors together will blow your mind. Hint: do exactly as it says and even you will be amazed how the colors will come together. Anyway, I got off track again didn’t I? Oh well. I’m thinking I do have a couple of pictures of this pattern. That’s one of them with the arrow pointing at it. I have made several of these afghans and I just love them. These are some of the first bears I made. I still have the little guy.:)

Anyway, where the heck was I? Oh yeah, the variegated yarn. Well I finally decided to use it, and I used every bit of it. None left, nada. But since the project is for me my country duck, unless someone comes along and just has to have it? p.s. he does have a matching scarf!

I guess we are all just over grown kids, I know I am. But lets see, country duck. Well, that’s me and that’s the name of my latest project. Calvin the Country Duck. Well I’m gonna try to make a couple of videos today. Wish me luck……you know the routine……have fun

Demetrius Dee Duckling

Well, I am proud to announce a new addition to my patterns. Demetrius is a sleep baby duckling knit entirely in the round. He’s been floating around in my head for a while now. I was so glad to get the time to set down and get him started and completed. Demetrius

Out for a walk this morning, not so much limping going on. Foot is feeling much better, but I made a real effort not to do any stepping on rock and no twisting, the Achilles tendon when slightly injured can sure cause allot of pain. :( I found a picture of my self taken a few years ago. I am not a skinny person by any means. But this picture was taken while I was probably my heaviest. And I had given up walking. And if I remember correctly I had been up visiting my Mom and she was running circles around me. We were planting something in her the end garden, and I was panting and sweating like crazy. It was then that I decided I may never be a skinny person, but there was no reason for me to let myself get so totally out of shape. I stuck the picture on the front of the fridge. I just looked and it was taken in May 2000. So I started walking again 10 years ago! What the heck happens to the time? Amazing isn’t it? Anyway, walking is so good for you, and if you can do a few arm exercises with some free weights.  Doesn’t take that much time, but the rewards are awesome.

Okay, enough of that. Don’t want to be harping or nagging, I am not into that. So when I had Demetrius finished, I considered making him a scarf. I made the scarf, but it just didn’t do much for him. So I thought how about a hat? I mean all ducklings need a hat, right? And I know kids love to put their clothes on and off, so that’s when I thought might just be the thing.DSCF2773

Not sure if I have taken the best pictures to show how cute he is. I have made his cousin Donnie Dee Duckling. He’s pretty sweet. I just get such a kick out of these little critters, I’m always telling people they need to make a couple of toys, they are just so much fun to make. Well I will talk at ya later, here’s a picture of Demetrius and Donnie outside taking in some sun!DSCF2804                  Did you notice that Donnie has blue eyes? :)

This just “Dawned” on me!

Out this morning checking out my  boots. Seeing how comfortable purple boy tea they feel, and I am happy to report, they felt and still feel very very nice. The wool socks really do the trick, and the fact that they aren’t too thick really helps also. Left foot still having problems, so don’t know if its up for a four hour hike or not. I’m up for it, just not sure how that tendon will do. Anyway………………………

Went to pick Foxy up from the Vet yesterday, and they had to pull some of his teeth! I was totally shocked. Made me feel really bad for him, but I guess if they needed to come out, that’s what they had to do. He was pretty goofy coming home, should have asked the man to ride along. And when he let out a big groan, and I’m thinking they didn’t even give me anything for him for pain? So the first thing I did when I got home was call them andbuddies ask if he should have something and they said dogs handle it really well? Whatever that means? The man being ever considerate had cooked him some rice and chicken, a treat for sure. But under the circumstances, it was really great to be able to offer him some soft food. Well  you would have thought the dog hadn’t eaten in days, the way he inhaled it. Of course his beard was full of debris. He’s doing better today, doing a lot of sleeping. So while I was walking I was thinking of all this and I remembered that my Brutus Bee Beastie Boy has a new home and a new buddy. Now, how cute is that?

Just thinking about a little gal that grew up with my daughter, she is very special to me. She and I have always had a lot in common, neither of us had anythingPurple boy given to us. We both have had to work for everything, and that means everything. She is one terrific little gal, and I am very proud of her.

I just want to reach out and say “I love you Dawn!” Have fun……………. there’s no  time like the present.
