Most Interesting................

Well just for the heck of it and because I'm a stubborn person, and I just don't understand why things have to be so complicated. I have gone to settings, and opted for the old editor. After looking at too many pages of no help "help section." I just don't see why this needs to be so difficult. So now I am going to insert a picture of a hat, and when you click on it, it will take you directly to the page where you can download the Free pattern! The name of the pattern is Sunshine & lollipops. What a great name.......................and its a great pattern. Hope you have a great Friday...............bj :)

Whatcha gonna do today?

Well the worst is over! Got the house cleaned, cos I just love cleaning house. Now if you believe that.............hmmmm....I'm sure I've got something smart to say about that. Anyway the house is clean, so I don't have to worry about that for a couple of days. We all pick up after ourselves pretty good around here. Except for that darn dog!

Got two more hats finished and got them mailed off yesterday. Got some pictures to show. She seemed to prefer the bucket style. So I got cotton for this time of year. And made the green one first. Should have put the eyelets on that one. I always get things backwards, cos you really can't see them on the yellow hat. They came out pretty large, but since she sent me some pictures modeling the first hats. I have a better idea of her head shape, so I call these hats "Shrink to fit". I got some more cotton and I'm making the man one, I just won't make eyelets and I will just make a purl around and start the underside of the brim. Its a great pattern, I will put the link to it on the last picture of the green hat. Ken likes to wear and old straw hat that he has had since the Nevada days. It has hung in there, the hat I'm making might not work for him. But I figure its worth a try. I will make the brim just a little longer, and with it being cotton he can wet it down and just plop it on his head, should feel pretty refreshing in the heat! When we were still in Nevada, I got into the habit of spraying water up in the air over my head and having a private rain so to speak, felt wonderful in the desert. I still miss the desert, I love it here, but I still miss the desert. Really starting to look forward to going down to the pow-wow. The name of the pattern is Sunshine & lollipops. Its a well written pattern, and it starts from the crown down. Of course its circular and knit in the round! My favorite! No seams!

Very frustrated, have spent the last 2o minutes just trying to add a link to the pattern. Will leave the link on the first pic, cos I'm tired of screwing with it! I love puters, but it seems if you are trying to do something correctly sometimes, it just becomes impossible, I have looked it up and read and reread and found no solution. I think we have another case of burping and f-rting going on here ladies and gentleman, so I will leave this post as is, I don't feel like messin with it any mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooore! Have fun :)

Greetings from Ideehoooo.......................

Well its gonna be a hot one today. Little breeze blowing, but the humidity is up there. Stayed up til the wee hours. Got one of my patterns revamped. The word program I am working with is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo touchy should I say? I just rechecked the 2 patterns I was working on and found a mistake. And with this program, I can truthfully say, I don't know if it was me or the program. I'm tempted to take it off and install microsoft office. The thing is this lap top doesn't have a very big hard drive, and when I got it I had no idea I would end up using it for making patterns. I have looked at different software and I really don't see much out there that has any bells or whistles that I want to blow.
But there is nothing more frustrating than trying to complete something when weird and frustrating things keep happening. Actually I call it burping and f-rting! Puters can do alot of that. And another thing that drives me crazy is the spell checker doohicky.................I just love those little squigggly red lines, so I find myself diliberately misspelling words to see how many squiggly red lines I can get in one sentence.

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence.
The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.
The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, 'You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. But It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound will still be there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one.
Remember that friends are very rare jewels indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share words of praise and they always want to open their hearts to us.

Please forgive me if I have ever left a 'hole' in your fence. :)

Are you KEWL?

Afternoon, got a hot one outside. Says 92, for this country that be hot. Had a nice walk this am, played some poker, the game you love to hate. Of course I play token poker, and it's much different than real money poker. It can get pretty crazy sometimes, and talk about bad beats. I play on Full Tilt, there are alot of different sites. But the graphics are just superior, and the entire web site is top notch. I don't know how anyone can play on another site after playing on full-tilt, but that's just my opinion.

I also took a little run in to Ontario, I was just thinking these people ought to be paying me for these free plugs! Anyway, I have been thinking about buying a shake-weight for a couple of weeks now. Some people say they don't work and some say they do. I have free weights, and bands, but I'm thinking that it would be good to use, as I really don't even have to get up if I don't want to. With all the knitting I do, my arms could use a little more exercise, and of course I've got that flabby arm thing going on. And to think of all the arm exercises I've done, the key word in this subject, like all exercises, you've got to do them consistently. Which means on a regular basis. So we will see, I like the way it feels. I went to walmart and they didn't have them. So I was major disappointed, as that was the main reason I had gone to Ontario in the first place. Ontario, Oregon that is. Its surprising how many people from Idaho, cross that snake river and do there shopping in Ontario. Its nice cos you don't have any state tax.

So I was headed out of town when I remembered that there's a Walgreen there, so I turned around and went down there, "as seen on TV aisle, and presto chango there sat the shake weight. $19.99 out the door, I had checked them on E-Bay and they wanted $10.00 for shipping?I also noticed that someone had bid $20.00 on the cd that comes with the weight. And it stated simply that it was just the cd that came with the weight, not the weight? How stupid is that?

Also got to mention to anyone who might give a darn, I took a different route this morning and was on a dirt road by this huge corn field. And I saw some of the biggest most beautiful dragon flies. The most gorgeous shade of blues and greens. So beautiful, and they are always so curious. I'm grateful they don't bite. :)Well I am procrastinating, I need to finish my latest project, and start a couple of hats, etc., etc. So no pictures, and I really meant to take the camera this morning. Maybe manana?

TGIF already?

Gee, I can't believe its Friday already. What the heck happened to this week? Time flies when your having fun, and I admit I have been having a really good time. I have been walking every morning for a change. I had been going every other day, but the weather has been so beautiful, I just have to get out there. And today is no exception, there was a little breeze when I started off, but it kind of disappeared. Not much of note to report. Yesterday I saw a doe and her fawn, they were going in to a corn field. So I hung back a little to give them plenty of time before I walked by where they went in to the field. Don't like spooking them. Didn't see them today, they probably were out a little earlier than me, I did see several fresh tracks. Got the pow-wow next month, I'm really looking forward to going. Woo Hoo!

Good Evening,
been a couple of days, been really busy. I got 4 hats made and sent them off today. I took alot of notes. So I am anxious to see how the fit is, and which ones are more favored. Its a very difficult time to be ill, and then have your hair falling out. So I am hoping they bring a little smile. And I hope they ease some of the pain.

Going to be brief tonite, need to get back to work on my pattern. I have to finish my test knit. Can't wait to use the yarn I got for the tail. Should look really nice. I'm not giving out any clues just yet.

It twas a warm one here in Idaho today. Got off to an early start walking, and it was perfect. Walking is just the perfect exercise, I absolutely love it. Too bad I'm not skinnier, but at this late date, don't think I'm gonna worry about it. Somethings are not that crucial. I did get a picture to show you where I love to walk.
Now you can't tell me that's not a pretty sight. This was taken last year, and where you see the green is now corn. Beautiful country.........................sigh.............gotta go.........take care :)

Where were you?

I missed you! Had a little puter problem yesterday, and I'm not sure what my first mistake was, but my second mistake was staying on the phone with this jerk from support. Was so tempted to give him the you know what, but mistakenly thinking he might be able to help me, I hung on. I even gave him the, "Have you had a good day today?" question, to which he just growled louder in my ear. Not going to go into detail, the parting shot was, from him, "with any luck you might be back up in 24 hours!" My response was, I don't care for your sense of humor, because I knew he wasn't joking. Well all I will say is that it was one of those things, but by the time the techie had me going in and messing with the settings on my wireless router, which he insisted on calling a modem, I had a feeling this wasn't going to fix itself. So about midnite, I decided to take the bull by the horn, changed the settings back where they were, and woosh the Internet was back!If you have a moral to this story, drop me a note, and I will add it!

Well I am working on the second critter, and have the pattern written and am in the process of doing a test knit. I think its coming out good, and of course I can't wait to publish it. But I think it might be a few more days before that happens. I have a couple of hats to make for someone. I love making them, and I found some really nice yarn at Joann's. It's called "bamboo ewe" it contains 55% viscose from bamboo and 45% wool. We came across it first thing in the store, so I grabbed 4 skeins, they have a nice color selection. It has a lovely softness to it. And since these hats are for someone who is taking chemo therapy, I want the hat to be extra soft.

Well its screaming hot outside, don't think I will walk tonite. First thing early manana. Everything is going great here, just not enough hours in the day sometime. Just reporting in. Have fun. Manana?

D stands for Design.

Well I didn't blog yesterday. I spent most of the day researching my next couple of projects. I have three things circling in my brain. I just wasn't sure which one was going to emerge first. Was thinking of another person who was designing a wonderful pattern. I had come across a picture of her first prototype, and thought how wonderful it was. In fact, I left her a comment and told her how great it was. Notice I'm not saying what the pattern was? Don't want to hurt any feelings while telling this story. Anyway, a couple of months later while thinking of a pattern I wanted to do. I remembered this gals pattern. So, I started looking for it. Of course I'm talking about Raverly, I just can't say enough good things about that site. Any way I must have looked at 200 pics, when I finally came across it. So I again dropped this gal a little "nag note" like when you gonna write that pattern up? I wish I could tell you what kind of pattern it is. But take my word for it, I have never seen anything quite like it. And hopefully this whole thing will eventually work out, I surely hope so. So thanks to my nag, she started working on her original notes, and was within a day or two of publishing her first for sale pattern. I was sooo excited for her. Well in the process of perfecting her pattern, and she is a perfectionist, she asked another gal to do a test knit for her. What a disaster that turned out to be. The next thing you know the test knitter is making suggestions, says she is having problems knitting the pattern, etc. And what is the result? I think the pattern might have gone in to the circular file. It just makes me feel so bad.
Writing patterns can be very difficult, and trying to create within this medium is both frustrating and exciting at the same time. Wondering what will happen when you try something. And if it works would you be able to explain it easily to someone else through the written medium? Explaining something face to face is far easier. Anyway I think you get my drift. I was up til the wee hours, but I think its gonna work! Its been trial and error, but that's to be expected.

While I was doing my research yesterday. I kind of made a list of how many more designs I wanted and needed to complete my series. And then I guess after that, any more designs will come from inspiration or ideas out of the blue. The last one I had out of the blue, was when my Mother and I were in Joann's. Gosh do I love that store. Never had been into one until I moved to Idaho. And when I walked in the front door, I was in heaven. LOL..........anyway I had made a felted purse and used a magnet as the closure. Well part of the magnet showed on the front flap of the purse, so I decided to put a applique to cover it up. My Mom is an artist and works with oils, all kinds of mediums. I wanted to show her this huge collection of appliques that they had at Joann's. So as we are looking, up pops the most darling little bumble bee, I just kept looking at it thinking I need to make a bumble bee. My Mom, saw the look on my face, and my dilemma and said here, let me buy that for you. Its still in its little package. I will try to take a pic. Now isn't that the sweetest little bumble bee? I took one look and it slapped me in the face. Call it kismet, karma, what have you. You just don't  know where you will get your next inspiration. :) And one more thing, always move on your ideas, if you don't, someone else will. How many times have you heard someone say, I had the same idea........yeah.....and they didn't act on it. Its like the law of the universe, if you don't take the ball and play with it,  somebody else will.

Now where was I? Oh yeah, wanted to tell you I walked this morning. Left the house about 10:30, there was a breeze and it was just scrumptious out, very nice. Had the tunes going on my mp3 player, just in my little piece of the universe. Natural highs are absolutely the best! Saw the neighbor boy riding his bike bare footed, how many times did I stub my toes running barefoot in the summer? A little while later, I'm walking up to the ditch road, when I look over in this corn field and I see a doe. Well she spooks a little, and I could see that if I continued in the same direction I was going to herd her towards the road, which I did not want to do. So I did an about face and kept and eye on her to see what her reaction was. To my relief she headed away from the road, crossed the ditch and started up the hill, away from trains, planes, and automobiles. She was gorgeous. Also saw my first dragon fly of the year, he was a little one, but curious like all of them and followed me for awhile. I could not make out what color he was. But I was glad to see him. Well I'm anxious to keep working on my pattern. Can't wait to see how it turns out. So have fun! Manana~

Sunday Evening going down.............

Howdy do.........just a couple of lines. I need to finish the looper I started last nite. Was chattin with another Ravelry member, and decided to make a final change with the looper pattern. Good thing I did, I had a couple of page errors that would have made reading that pattern a little confusing. Confusion is not a good word. I don't much care for Responsibility either. That was a tough one. Learned the true meaning of that word a loooooooooooooooong time ago. Think I was 18 years old. Still don't like it. :(

So as I was saying, want to finish looper, and its time to start a new design. Can't tell you what it is, but its furry! Now that's a really big hint huh. Any more clues and I will give it away.

How about a plumbing update? Now I know you really want to know what's going on with the plumbing. Right? Right.........its still working fine, but I think the plumber decided that there is a problem that's probably been ongoing for quite a while..............so there's some major diggin going on. Had to go out and remind the plumber how hot it was getting and that this type of work should be done in early hours.......................Gosh, I love to nag.................but I gotta be sneaky about it...........lol....So any way we are thinking that there has been a partial obstruction for many a moon. So it will be totally excavated and put to right. It says here in very fine print..... and this will be the FINAL excavation. :) Now if you believe that.....how much money have you got?
Hmm seems like I've heard this before. This mans middle name really should be spade. He built a huge hot house in Nevada out of spare tires. If you've never heard of this method of building, check into it. The main ingredient is old tires &DIRT! And he started digging underneath our mobile home. He ended up excavating under the entire thing, you could walk underneath it, standing up. I finally had a little fit and asked him to go get his dirt some place else. We did have 2 acres there...........so this man really does like to dig. :) I really don't know how I get off on these little rants.....so we were talking about the shoveling of the dirt.................LOL.......never mind ..........I'll be back manana......Gosh I love that word..................have fun...........don't forget to laugh.....:)

How Hot is it?

Good Evening! Well its almost 8pm here and its still over 95 outside. Its a screamer. Hmmm have you ever noticed that the only time you get plumbing problems is when its either the hottest day of the year, the coldest day of the year. or its a holiday? Why is that? I noticed when I was brushing my teeth this morning, and had a little stream of water going in the bathroom sink, that all of a sudden I hear this big bubble come from the toilet. We have only lived here a couple of years, but I can't really say that I've ever noticed big bubbles coming from any of my toilets before. And since it was before 8am in the am??? And the man was outside, because I have been properly trained to always report any strange events. Strange noise in car, weird anything in the house, etc. So if he would have been handy, I would have reported. But I had overslept, if sleeping 3 hours is oversleeping! And I had a walking date at 8................I will get back to that.

Well you wanna know how hot it was, we weren't 30 minutes into the walk, and the sweat is pouring. Miserable. So I think the witching hour will be no later than 7:3o, this is really going to play heck with my all niters. I should sleep really well Tonite...............Anyway.........had a great walk.................great convo, I'm so lucky to have such a terrific buddy.

So back to the plumbing, the man was outside when I set off for the walk, but he was pulling weeds and had his head down, and I was almost late, so no time for any chit chat, hi, bye, etc. So after getting back from the steamin walk. And cooling down a bit, I decided to get in the shower, well not 5 min. into the shower and I can hear that toilet blowing some huge bubble, no odor I might add. So hearing the bubbles reminded me that I had not reported. :( So don't ask me why I did it, but after getting out of the shower, still in towel, I got the big idea, lets try a flush and see what happens???Where does that come from? Can someone tell me? You get this hunch, and you go with it and blam.........................you got a plumbing problem. And who wants to report that? Not me? But now I have no choice. I got familiar with the plunger who scoffed at my efforts. So after my failed attempts, I decide its time to report. Of course I'm acting very nonchalant, like , well , maybe, it could be a problem, and oh yeah, the toilet had been blowing bubbles earlier? Would you believe I even googled the symptoms, to report to our in house plumber? We have had a few problems before, and like I said we haven't lived here that long. But it was starting to look like he was going to have to do some serious digging. And with this heat, I just did not want it to happen. I reported that ...........I could make do.....and that I didn't want him doing any digging in this heat and to wait til early morning. Gosh, for a task master I am really considerate aren't I?
Well google said, it could be a partially clogged shared line, we do have 2 bathrooms, so that was a possibility...........and they mentioned perhaps the vent pipe might be partially blocked, another possibility.....why is it nobody cares about other peoples plumbing problems? I can feel I am losing you....if it were your plumbing problems you wouldn't be getting bored. LOL...Okay..............I'll hurry up with the punch line............ it was either .............or.............But who cares cos it working fine now. I personally think it was a little bit of both. That's how hot is was...................No major digging was involved! :)

Well I rewrote the looper pattern, W & T is not my best suit, and of course I had figured in a color change the very next row, after ten rows of short rows! Not real good. So the pattern remained the same, I just changed the color changes, actually I just amended the pattern so you have a choice.........you can either or not. Up to you. The looper on the far side is the original, the one on this side is the updated dude. Can't really see that much difference. I called that picture sun bathing.
This next one I called Loopers a Loopin......lol I love a good laugh, and it doesn't take much to make me chuckle these days. I try to read the news once a week, I don't get too emotionally involved unless I know I can make a difference. I do know what kind of world I live in, but I refuse to dwell on it. Won't make me any happier. I can remember some of the gals who used to come in the salon, and I would make the mistake of asking them how their week had been and got the 15 min. of the woe is me tale.......gheesh............I can remember going to the grocery store with my Mother when I was a little kid, and she would stop and talk to these old folks that were always complaining and unhappy. And I would have to stand there and wait.......... YUCK! So it was many moons ago I decided that I was never ever gonna be a grumpy old lady, and so far (knock on wood) I've kept my promise. So if you've got something to complain about, I'm not your captured audience any more! YEAH! What did I say about knitting in circles? Manana.........my favorite word :)

Never Noticed this before?

Well good evening Shasta! I just want to thank you for being my first official follower! I asked my daughter and another gal to come and at least sign themselves up and help this ole lady out. And did they??? Nope, promises, promises..........oh well who needs them? LOL.....really Shasta I was pleasantly surprised when I saw your pic. You get a big gold star from me.

Well I got the pattern written up for the looper last nite,  got it posted and up on the Ravelry site. I can't believe how many people have downloaded it already. I mean its so hot outside, but I guess some of us are just dyed in the wool, gonna knit, no matter how hot it gets! I love it!

I've just spent the last couple of hours listing the animals  that I got back yesterday. If your looking for handmade items, Etsy is the place to go. So we shall see what happens there. When I was listing Beau, I almost changed my mind. Sounds crazy but some of these creatures, almost develop a persona of there own. And I'm really gonna hate to part with Beau.................anyway. I'm not walking tonite, got to save up my energy cos I'm walkin with my bud in the am. And she's a nice fast walker, in fact our pace is bout the same, but she is a few years younger than I, and I have a feeling she could walk even faster without a problem. But I try to keep her busy talking, so I can keep her down to this old lady's pace. ROFL!

When I walked last nite, I really could feel the humidity, when I was walking between two cornfields that had standing water in them, it felt really yucky walking there. I had decided on walking a shorter route, but I changed my mind because the shorter route meant walking back between those cornfields again. Boy, do I sound like a desert rat or what? Well you can't change your spots can ya???

Any how, I'm gonna make this short tonite, too much puter time for me. Actually felt like work..................OMG..........................scary...........................I can still remember when I took my first computer class, and how I thought to myself, it must be heaven to work with these awesome machines all day...........................What did I say about full circle????   Later.....thanks again Shasta...................:)

Thursday, July 8, 2010

Well good evening to you. Is it hot where you are today? Today is the third day we have turned on the cooler. So we have nothing to complain about. I sure enjoy the summer weather, winter is not my favorite time of year that's for sure. Never mind it will be here before we know it.

In the meantime, well let's see.............I fooled around with this page all day yesterday! I mean HOURS of wasted time spent!  I got the clever idea that I would use a free template and it would magically install itself and everything would work perfectly, widgets and all. How dumb can I be? Pretty darn dumb.............ROFL! So I will just kind of muck along and hopefully learn more as I go along. I checked out alot of other blogs and as blogs go, this puppy is pretty plain, no flashing lights, no music, no bells and no dam whistles! But its working...............

Speaking of working, I DID NOT get Edgar the Eaglets feet changed yet. But I did get a furry little tail put on the kitty.   She kind of looked more like a baby bird at first. But I think she looks like a kitty now. :) Amazing what a nose and some eyebrows and some ears can do! And just a little of the furry yarn goes a long way.
Well I did the rest of my models back from Arkansas today. Gee they are more traveled than I am. Never been that far back east. Oklahoma is the most easterly of my travels. My father was from North Carolina, never made it back there yet. Don't think I ever will at this late date. Anyway....................I have decided to put them up for sale on Etsy. The money helps with my shipping, etc. If they don't sell they will go to Portland and get adopted! So I went and got a nice large container to put them in with some lovely vanilla sachet. So they will stay nice and clean and sweet smelling in the meantime. :)

Well I mentioned that I had an idea for a new free pattern? His name is "Lethargic Leonardo Le Looper."  My husband came up with that name, I think its a doozy. Here's a picture. That's right he's an inch worm! The sun was shining so bright I had to stand in front of him to knock some of the glare. Gee, it's almost 7:30 pm and its still screamin hot and I need to go for a walk. Hmmmm the question is........... will I go tonite???? Or will I go early in the morning? Boy, that's too easy. Your right, its tonite or forget it. I got one of those neck thingy's at the fiddle festival last week so I will go throw it in some water, it really helps, just don't like for it to drip on my mp3 player...........don't want it shortin out on me. Okay, its soaking in some water, so that gives me 30 minutes to wait til its completely expanded. Anybody out there a walker besides me? Gosh I love it. And I do have a great place to walk. Most of the dogs are friendly, notice I said most. Got a little feud going with a neighbor down the street who insists on letting his dogs roam at large. I personally don't care, just leave me alone. I learned to use a walking stick when I was still in Nevada. They are great! Good for hills, good for flicking dead stuff off the road, good for poking stuff with, good for letting people know you are walking, and don't need a ride, good for waving at dumb dogs, and lastly.................ta ta!!! they are good for Rattle Snakes! Gotta go...................Manana...bj p.s. I gotta tell you bout this neighbor, he actually told me that if I hadn't waved my stick at his dog, he would not have attacked me? This is a true fact. Gives you just a bit of an idea of what I'm dealing with. And we are talking 2 dogs here. Oh my gosh I feel a rant coming on. And what you might ask yourself does this have to do with knitting in circles????

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

Well good day on ya! I'm back. Looks like maybe one person, might have stumbled in and accidently found my blog. No matter. I think this will be more like a private journal, only that millions can read it if they so desire! Hmmmm.

Well I didn't pick up a needle yesterday. I think I just needed to charge my batteries. I am a keen tennis fan, and I have been watching Wimbledon for the last couple of weeks. It turned out the way I wanted, but I really would have liked to see the Williams sisters take the doubles. They are so awesome, so talented. Just can't say enough about them. Won't be long and they will be retiring. Heck with the money they have earned, they could have retired a long time ago. But I feel there love of the game has kept them in the mix. Anyway............I kinda got off the subject.................but I did manage to get up about 1pm, so I'm ready for an all niter!!!

Still can't decide what I'm gonna do with that birds feet. Oh yeah was going to show you his second set of feet. Kind of hard to see, no A+ for my photography? Dam, what a bummer. Any way I don't think I like them. So I think they will be coming off again. And instead of picking up sts twice. I'm just gonna do some short rows, and hopefully acheive the same effect. And I think I prefer his feet all in the variegated yarn.  Anyway...............I will get him finito tonite. Onward and upward. I am ready to do some designing, I have a great idea for a free pattern. But if I tell you what it is, it won't be a surprise. I will give you a hint it's gonna be a great stash buster. We all love those..............:)
Well I think I should add this point  that I do make tons of stuffed animals. I retired a couple of years ago, and now after moving to Idaho where I absolutely know no one, except for one wonderful gal who loves to walk like I do. I have finally had the time to spend on my favorite pastime. I never dreamed how consuming it would become. Or how much pleasure I could get from it.

It all started when I asked myself, well you've worked all your life. Now you don't have a job, so "whatcha gonna do today?" In the process of getting ready to move up here from Nevada, I had gotten rid of so many things. And one of them was a pretty good sized yarn stash. I also had managed in between working and my spare time, to teach myself how to use an electronic knitting machine. I had so much fun learning how to use it, and not to boast, but I made some lovely colorful pieces. But unfortunately I am one of those people who sometimes learns how to do something, and my interest seems to wane...............and I'm off to the races to find my next passion.  My sister-in-law refers to me as a "Shooting Star." So to make this long story short......and after making an afghan for my Mother, I decided I wanted to do some knitting an crocheting for charity. I have been knitting and crocheting since childhood, I think I was about 8 years old the first time I picked up some knitting needles. So I guess its pretty obvious that my love of needlework started a long long time ago. lol

So I got the idea, to put a little ad in the local paper asking if anyone had that odd ball skein or two of partially used yarn that they knew they were never going to use. And at the same time make them feel good knowing that it would be put to good use. Well! I only received donations from ten people, and your probably thinking well she probably got a little yarn. Eight months later, I had finally got it down.
This picture only shows half of the completed items, I decided to use this picture cos I wanted you to see my pooch, he loves to have his pic taken. In fact if you don't want him in the pic, you have to ask him to move. Otherwise he will sneak into every pic, just like he did in this one. Never even noticed him until I downloaded it. He's a wonderful pooch, getting a little long in the tooth, like the rest of us! :)
And I just have to say, that the people here in Idaho are so nice and so friendly, its just a fact. :) And it was at this time, that after making many cancer hats, and lap robes, and afghans, that I decided that I wanted to make toys for children in hospitals, and since toys came in all sizes and colors, I was able to finish up all the donated yarn.  I still have the first teddy bear pillow and small teddy that I crocheted. Nothing could make me part from them. I made them with my yarn........:)

I have filled that chair up many times with toys, in fact its full right now! I had shipped some models back east and they were approved but the deal didn't go through, so I am expecting them to arrive here any day now. Kind of a let down, I guess its everyone's dream to be published. Oh well.......................

Well folks, I have rambled on enough for one afternoon, I hope you have had a super kadjafrajaexpalidoshish day.........................Manana..........bj

The Monday After...........

This is another new adventure for me, so after spending a couple of hours sprucing up my little domain, I figured I better make a post. I guess that's what blogging is all about right?
I think you might have figured out by now, that I'm really into knitting. I crochet also, but I just have that little something extra for knitting. I don't know if its because it doesn't seem to gobble up the yarn like crochet, or because the knitted fabric just feels better when I run my hands over it? Just one of those I really don't know why kind of things.................

I tend to be a very late night crafter,  and last nite was no exception. We live a couple of miles out of town, so I didn't hear or see any fireworks. I have been working on a project for a friend of mine who is also a member of "Ravelry". We are working on a sweet little eaglet, with the best looking beak! Who could not love that face? Working with eyelash yarn can be a bit o a pain sometimes. The designer of this pattern embroidered the eyes, and didn't seem to have a problem with the yarn covering up the eyes.  Even with using felt before I put the eyes on didn't seem to stop the yarn from trying to cover the eyes. So I've done a little trimming, and I think I could do some more. What's been really interesting is that Karen is a "flat knitter" and guess what I knit in circles! LOL>>>>>>>>>>>>> ok, ok, in the round. So we tend to do things a little bit differently. I tried reworking Edgar's feet last nite, and I'm not sure I'm happy with them.
But when the clock struck 3am, he had both his feet back on. But I think we will have another go round tonite. This picture is of the first feet. I just took a picture of his second pair of feet, and they really don't look too bad. Of course by the time I did the second foot, it seems much better than the first. So either way, some sort of adjustment needs to be made.  I will post the second pair of feet tomorrow, and you can tell me what you think.
We had a terrific sudden wind storm, just about a month ago that tore off a limb of a very old Lilac bush, and in that huge limb were two birds nests.  Without going into detail suffice to say, after almost 3 weeks of constant endeavor, there were no survivors :(......So on that happy note. I will blog off for today..................bj p.s. life does go full circle, its better to have tried and failed than to have never tried...........:)
